Plans, directs, and coordinates the development and implementation of programs and services consistent with the mission of Havasu Regional Medical Center. Responsible for the strategic planning, business development and growth, and quality improvement plans for cardiac and vascular programs. Coordinates and supports administration and management in the integration of financial, clinical and quality issues for the specialty service lines to achieve high quality service in an efficient and economic manner. Develops collaborative relationships with medical directors, medical groups and the community to ensure a continuum focus and enhance the image of Havasu Regional Medical Center. Provides consultation in clinical specialty to related healthcare personnel and other entities regarding program development and departmental operations.
A. Direct and coordinate the delivery of care within the service line can include, but are not limited to: Cardiac Cath Lab, Electrophysiology, Cardiac OP clinics, Cardio and Pulmonary Rehabilitation Centers, Open Heart Surgery Team, Cardio Vascular ICU Team, Respiratory Therapy, Echocardiography and non-invasive cardiology, Interventional Radiology, data management for regulatory and accreditation compliance
B. Measurement - Operating Budget and Volumes, Quality Outcomes
A. Prepare agendas and reports for the Heart Center Leadership Team, serves as the primary liaison between hospital and cardiologists, surgeons and other physicians who perform procedures in the Cardiovascular Lab and Cardiovascular Surgery.
B. Facilitate the development and use of clinical protocols or clinical pathways for the CV service line.
C. Monitor clinical and technical developments; promote the advancement of new programs and services to assure of Havasu Regional Medical Center Cardiovascular Services are competitive and of the highest quality.
D. Incorporates knowledge of external factors and healthcare policies which affect reimbursement for services.
E. In conjunction with hospital leadership, CV service physicians and marketing; develops outreach strategies to enhance referral processes
F. Ensures submission to the clinical data repositories: STS Adult Cardiac Surgery Database; ACC-NCDR CathPCI and ACC-NCDR-ICD registries.
G. Assists and oversee the analysis of reports and implements a data-driven strategy for the CV service line that is based on the results of the registry reports.
A. Assures the awareness of local, state, and national standards that affect programs and the service line and/or departments.
B. Utilize data and information to identify quality trends and opportunities for improvements.
C. Guide and assist in the development of quality indicators and monitors/analyzes achievement of benchmark goals.
D. Collaborate with the healthcare team to implement action plan to enhance quality outcomes across the continuum.
E. Identify and confront issues which affect quality of service; collaborates with physicians, administration, medical groups, and staff to resolve these issues.
F. Provides ad-hoc reports on quality outcomes as needed to physicians, administration and staff.
A. Assist with the development of operational budgets based on current and future needs to enhance development of the CV service line.
B. Perform variance analysis on quality and financial outcomes.
C. Prepare cost benefit analysis of new programs, services, or variances in practice
D. Identify and implement cost-effective strategies within the service line and CV program.
E. Monitor profit/loss statements for the CV service line.
F. Provide reports to Senior Leadership.
G. Understand and monitor revenue cycle, charge master and other coding/billing issues as it relates to CV Services.
H. Make recommendations and implement opportunities for optimizing reimbursement.
I. Continually monitor and recommend available incentives to encourage physicians to practice fiscally sound high quality medicine.
J. Manage the annual operation budget including volumes, revenue, productive staffing and efficient use of clinical supplies
Masters Degree strongly preferred in Nursing, Business, or Health-Related field. Equivalent experience and education may be considered.
Demonstrated experience and the ability to manage multiple groups, interact productivity with varying levels of personnel and staff, provide program direction and development, excellent communication and management and skills. Ability to produce and utilize clinical and financial data for project tracking and outcomes achievement. Flexibility to deal and manage change. Technical knowledge of cardiology, cardiac surgery and vascular services. Knowledge of computer systems, information systems, information management, data analysis and case management.
Requires critical thinking skills, decisive judgment and the ability to work with minimal supervision. Must be able to work in a stressful environment and take appropriate action.
